"The Bronze Horseman" – a monument to Peter I located in Saint Petersburg. The monument got its name thanks to the famous similarly named poem of the Great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin. This was the first horse monument to the Russian tsar. The pedestal is in the form of a big cliff – the symbol of difficulties that Peter I went through and got over. The snake under the feet of the reared up horse depicts hostile forces. A sword, which hangs on his belt, indicates the role of Peter I as a general and a victorious conqueror.
