This box is made of paper-mâché which could be shaped into widely diverse forms. It is painted with tempera (pigment) painting and golden powder. This box is lacquered about 8-10 times.
The uniqueness of this work is not only in its uncommon plot and combination of contrast cold silver and warm gold, but also that all sides of the box are painted. A mesmerizing dense forest is drawn on the bottom, numerous objects are along the sides, and finally, there is a fascinating young forest sorceress, who is stunning with her youth and beauty. This is an excellent model of creative fantasy and the highest craftsmanship of a contemporary artist of the Fedoskino School.
