This set of Matryoshka dolls is completely handmade and unique. Each single doll is made of natural wood (linden tree). They are all mostly painted with tempera and richly decorated with golden leaf. The dolls are usually covered with 4-6 layers of lacquer.
A fairy tale of Russian writer P.Ershov, “The Humpbacked Horse” was written in verses and based on Russian folklore. The story tells us about how a young man Ivan with the help of his newfound friend - a “humpbacked horse” (a small horse with camel humps and donkey long ears, but with magical powers) had to undergo numerous tests and hard trials, set up by the Tsar. First, the Tsar asked Ivan to catch a firebird. Then he decided to marry a beautiful princess, who lives in a distant country. However, Ivan had to find her and bring her to him. These were only the beginning of all the adventures that awaited two friends on the way to happiness.
