Lacquer miniatures rank as one of the most original and diverse handicrafts that developed in keeping with century old traditions. It takes around 6 months for the artist to make this lacquer casket. This box is made of paper-mâché which could be shaped into widely diverse forms. It is painted with tempera (pigment) painting and golden powder. This box is lacquered about 8-10 times.

The composition of this box is modeled in the early icon-painting style. Artist arranged dozens of figures on the boxes surface, uniting them in a continuous ornamental pattern. According to the icon-painting tradition it’s made in bright colors with a lot of red and golden accents. One of the most traditional fairy tales is illustrated, which was written by the famous Russian writer Alexander Pushkin. The story has a rich plot and is full of different characters.
